Laminate flooring application varies according to the product you choose. In general, however, most laminate flooring comes with a tongue-and-groove mounting system that allows for quick and easy application without the need for any special tools or flooring materials such as glue and nails. You just need to assemble the plates.

At Tarkett, our laminate floors come with 2 easy-to-use profiles that allow adhesive-free installation: ANGLE LOCK or UNIFIT®. Our ANGLE LOCK system involves angling and clicking the plates together at the short end. And UNIFIT® allows for easy and flexible application, for each plate, making application even faster. Disassembly is also easier and can be done sequentially.

Our Easy Line 832 collection comes with the ANGLE LOCK application system. All other laminate collections, including the Essentials 832, Woodstock 832, Welcome 833, Lamin’Art 832 and Long Boards 1032 collections, come with the UNIFIT® application system.

You usually don’t need any special tools or skills to install laminate flooring. Laminate planks can be cut with a handsaw or sometimes a utility knife; this means that even inexperienced homeowners can install a laminate flooring.

Which direction should I lay my laminate flooring?
Because laminate flooring is made to mimic real hardwood flooring, you should install your laminate planks just like laminate planks. If the room is rectangular, you should place the planks parallel to the long wall, and if the room is square, you should place the boards towards the primary light source. If you are laying laminate in a hallway, place the planks along the length of the hallway.

Do you need underlayment for laminate floors?
Yes, underlayment is required for laminate floors because it helps laminate planks to be placed more smoothly, bonded better and can provide better acoustic insulation if the underlayment chosen is acoustic. It can be glued under laminate flooring or supplied as a separate product.

Laminate floors ‘float’ above the subfloor to ensure an even distribution of the floor and substrate should be used. In addition to providing the floor with the necessary support and stability, an underlayment provides moisture and sound attenuating properties. If you are laying laminate over concrete floors where moisture is likely to leak from the subfloor, you will also need to install a vapor barrier.

What type of adhesive is used for laminate flooring?

Laminate flooring is a type of floating flooring. Instead of being glued to the subfloor, they support themselves with a tight locking system. For example, our laminate floors come in 2 easy-to-use systems that allow adhesive-free installation. – ANGLE LOCK or UNIFIT®.

However, if you are laying laminate in areas exposed to moisture, it is a good idea to glue the planks together. This provides an even more water-resistant surface and is therefore particularly recommended for entryways, kitchens and laundry rooms.
